COVID-19 Resources for Schools

Please utilize the resources below provided by the CDC. 

The Calhoun County Public Health Department recommends the latest CDC COVID-19 guidance for K-12 schools and early care and education (ECE) programs. The following set of strategies for everyday operations should be in place at all COVID-19 Community Levels, including low levels.

  • Consider implementing screening testing or other testing strategies for people who are exposed to COVID-19 in workplaces, schools, or other community settings as appropriate

  • Wear a high-quality mask or respirator
  • If you are at high risk of getting very sick, consider avoiding non-essential indoor activities in public where you could be exposed.
  • Stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines and boosters
  • Maintain ventilation improvements.
  • Universal indoor masking in schools and ECE programs is recommended. CDC also recommends masking at all times at school nurses’ offices, regardless of the current COVID-19 community level.
  • Schools and ECE programs may also consider holding some activities outside if feasible when the COVID-19 Community Level is high.
  • Consider setting-specific recommendations for prevention strategies based on local factors
  • Consider implementing screening testing or other testing strategies for people who are exposed to COVID-19 in workplaces, schools, or other community settings as appropriate
  • Maintain improved ventilation in public indoor spaces
