Community Public Health provides direct links for county residents to access health care and support through assessment, coordination of care, health education, and referral to appropriate community resources.

Clinical Services

Providing pregnancy testing and counseling, reproductive health services for ALL men and women, contraceptive services (birth control) to allow all individuals in Calhoun County to achieve desired birth spacing and family size.
 
Information about vaccines and appointments for all ages.
 
Providing all children under 6 and pregnant women free blood-lead level testing to identify and prevent lead poisoning in Calhoun County.
 
Calhoun County is in the midst of an opioid epidemic, and Calhoun County Public Health Department is working to track the problem so we can work to stop it. Narcan kits (which can reverse the effects of a deadly opioid overdose) and training are available to all in Calhoun County.
 
Reducing and preventing the spread of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) through confidential and judgment-free clinical services.

Refugee Health Assessment
Supporting newly arriving refugees in an effort to allow refugees to adjust quickly and to become independent persons and families while protecting the permanent Calhoun County population from any health concerns that may exist within refugee populations.


Maternal and Child Health Services

Provides services for children, and some adults, with special health care costs and needs.

Childhood Vision and Hearing
CCPHD screens children in schools and preschools throughout the county.

Fetal and Infant Mortality Review (FIMR)
FIMRis a method for understanding the health care system and social problems that contribute to preventable fetal and infant deaths, and for identifying and implementing local interventions to rectify the identified problems. It is a community-based, action-oriented process with the intent to improve health and social services for families.
 
Education and resources to connect parents with what they need to create a safe sleep environment for their baby.
 
Health department staff are available to meet with new and expectant parents at home to connect them to resources and tools to improve health.
