Youth Center Detention

The Detention Program at the Calhoun County Youth Center provides a short-term, safe, and humane environment for detained youth pending further court action.

What to know about the detention program:
  • This program serves youth ages 11 to 17, who have committed a crime or violated a court order and are placed at the Youth Center by order of a judge or referee.
  • The Youth Center is committed to a cognitive behavioral approach.
  • A licensed therapist provides individual and group counseling.
  • Residents participate in a token economy system to learn appropriate behaviors.
  • Discharge occurs only through posting of bond or by order of the Court.
