Alternative Dispute Resolution

The 37th Judicial Circuit Court has adopted a local ADR plan in compliance with Michigan Court Rule 2.410. The Court’s ADR plan includes two different types of case resolution: Case evaluation and mediation.

  • Case Evaluation – most civil cases will be evaluated by a panel of three experienced attorneys who will review the case and assess the monetary value of the case. Rejection of case evaluation may result in monetary sanctions.
  • General Civil Mediation – cases may be referred to a mediator who will assist the litigants in resolving their disputes.
  • Domestic Relations Case Mediation – All qualified domestic pre-judgment cases will be referred to a family law attorney who will assist parties in reaching a resolution to their case.

The ADR Clerk will maintain a list of case evaluators and mediators and will track the progress of each case referred to ADR.
