ICE Virtual Attorney Visitation

Please read the information below before requesting visitation. 

  • All appointments for VAV meetings/calls should be made 24 hours prior to the desired appointment time. Legal representatives are not limited in the number of clients they may see in a day, but no legal representative is permitted more than one sixty-minute appointment with a detainee in a single day.
  • The Legal representative will be required to furnish appropriate identification, such as bar card from any state, or other available documentation demonstrating bar membership, prior to the scheduled meeting.
  • Only legal representatives, legal assistants, and interpreters will be allowed; no family or friends of the clients are permitted.
  • The legal representative may contact outside interpretation services during the session.
  • VAV may be used for other confidential interviews (by USCIS or forensics medical evaluators) or other special visitation purposes (child welfare), contingent upon availability.
  • Our process can Zoom, Webex Meet, and Polycom meetings that are to be setup by the legal representative.

Our available hours are:

  • Monday through Friday 7:30am till 10:30am, 1:00pm till 4:30pm, and 7:30pm till 9:00pm.
  • Weekends and Holidays 8:30am till 10:30am, 1:00pm till 4:00pm
  • You will receive an email confirmation for your visit once the request has been processed by our facility representative.
  • Requests on the weekends and holidays will be reviewed by the on-duty supervisor between 7:00am and 8:00am each day.

ICE Electronic Legal Document Exchange

Purpose
The Electronic Document Exchange process is only to be used when timely communication through the mail is not possible. The facility may allow for a reasonable amount of electronic written communication by the detained non-citizen and their designated legal representative.

This process is not intended to replace the normal process, only to give an additional option when time is a factor.

Procedure
Faxes sent by Legal Representatives to the Detained Non-Citizens

Legal representative can send legal correspondence only to the following fax number: 269-969-6408. Please note that if you are sending for the VAV visit you already have setup, there is a link on the VAV form to drop the needed documents into already.

Representative must include a cover letter that includes the following:

  • Non-Citizen Full Name
  • A-Number
  • Senders FAX and Email information
  • Total number of pages
  • Notate the correspondence is “Legal Mail.”
  • A copy of your bar card
  • A copy of the G28 If already in place
  • A copy of your ID
